Held within the Benevolent Dark, a circle forms
to become an opening into the Void.
Each querent crosses a threshold
to sit with the Black Mirror
and ask of the Oracle.
We gather in community to ask for the Unseen to become seen through personal inquiry of the Void.
Through the ancient practice of Black Mirror scrying, we become the hollow bone through which Spirit speaks.
Utterance from the Void via the sacred tool of the Black Mirror is shared for healing and insight.
ABOUT THE TEMPLE OF THE BLACK MIRROR
The Temple of the Black Mirror was born from the resurrection of an ancient practice through a group of twelve women who embarked on a two year oracular apprenticeship. They were taught oracular arts through embodiment practice and evoking deep trance states. Their studies culminated with a Black Mirror Making Ceremony and Temple offering.
We gathered for a day-long ritual to craft black mirrors for oracular purposes and offered a Black Mirror temple where they sat as oracles. Mirrors were crafted with framed sheet glass and black paint. The crafting was done in a ceremonial way that included embodied practice and seeking sigils, or magical symbols for each layer of paint. The symbols were painted with natural pigments that were sourced from the land and imbued with prayer, sound and breath.
Since this first Temple, there have been several Black Mirror ceremonies hosted in various locations with different practitioners to offer oracular insight to both local in person and online global communities.
